The diversity and inclusivity of the UAE knows no bounds. To celebrate Diwali 2025 in UAE, the Indian Schools in UAE get a festival break from three to five days. It gives thousands of students living across the country a chance to celebrate their festival with proper enthusiasm and spirit.

UAE is well-aware of the fact that around 6% to 16% of its population comprises Hindus, largely the expatriate population from India and Nepal. With its special 5-day festival break, Dubai promotes a multicultural and tolerant environment for its Hindu residents. For all the schools across UAE following the Indian curriculum, UAE has announced an extended holiday break.

Every year Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism prepares for the Diwali celebrations across the country in association with the Indian Consulate. These celebrations feature country-wide fireworks displays and cultural performances.

But, how can families and residents living in UAE celebrate if the schools do not shut during the holiday? The UAE government announced the break to make the celebrations easier and more fun for the residents.

When Is The 5-Day Festival Break Starting?

Some Indian schools in UAE are closing from 17th October 2025, Friday, and will reopen from 21st October 2025, Tuesday. But, there are other schools that will begin their break from Saturday and end it on Thursday.

The Indian schools are already buzzing with Diwali preparations as the students are dressing ethnic outfits, decorating the halls and classes, and participating in cultural events.

Sharjah Schools Give A 5-Day Break

The Delhi Public School in Sharjah has confirmed that their students can enjoy the auspicious occasion as they have already received the permission from the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) to declare the five-day holiday break.

This holiday will begin from Friday and will end on Tuesday — while Friday is the weekend holiday in Sharjah and the students get an additional Monday and Tuesday off is not a bad deal to celebrate the occasion.

Another school, GEMS Our Own English High School for Boys in Sharjah has announced the five-day holiday for Diwali. It is allowing the students to take a five-day break after announcing Monday and Tuesday as holidays.

However, some schools in Sharjah offered only Monday as the holiday, including Indian School Ghubaiba.

    Diwali Break For Dubai Schools

The Indian High Group of Schools is one of the largest Indian expat school communities with three campuses. The school authorities have announced a three-day holiday, which will create a five-day break including the weekend.

Other schools in Dubai allowing an off on Monday only are:

    • Credence High Schools
    • GEMS Our Own Indian School
    • DPS Dubai

    Diwali Break For Abu Dhabi

The list of private Indian schools in Abu Dhabi allowing the Diwali holiday includes the Sunrise English Private School and Dunes International School. These schools follow an approved calendar according to the ADEK, but some schools also align the occasion of Diwali with a short mid-term break to minimize the disruption caused by the holidays.

How To Know If Your Indian School Has Announced The Diwali Break?

To get the accurate details of the holiday, you must check the official circular offered by the school officially. You may also receive updates on the parent app regarding the transport updates, holiday dates, and return-to-school timings.

Almost all schools using the Indian curriculum in UAE have received their approval from the education authorities of their respective cities, including SPEA for Sharjah, ADEK for Abu Dhabi, and KHDA for Dubai schools. These holidays will help the Hindu community enjoy the Diwali without worrying about studies.
