If you are a frequent traveller in Dubai, riding taxis to reach your destination — there is some news for you. There is a Dubai taxi fare update notice circulating around on the internet. So, what is this news regarding “RTA introduces new taxi rates” — let’s find out!

    Dubai Taxi Fares Update RTA

The minimum fare for the taxi rides, even those you have booked via app-based e-hailing, will now be AED 13. Remember, this fare is just the base price, excluding the distance and waiting time.

There is also a new Dubai taxi fare update regarding the peak hour rates. Usually, Dubai sees a surge in taxi demands from 8 AM to 10 AM and from 4 PM to 8 PM. At this peak time, the booking fees will be AED 7.70 and the starting fare covering the first part of your journey will be AED 5.

However, outside of the peak hours, the booking fees will be AED 4 and the starting fare remains AED 5. There is going to be a slightly higher fare for the night-time trips, starting from 10 PM to 6 AM, with the booking fees of AED 4.50 and the flagfall will be AED 5.50.

Dubai Taxis Will See An Upgrade

Many residents and tourists in Dubai use taxis to travel around the city. It is extremely common and very easy to find. Although it is not as economical as the other public transport options such as Dubai Metro — people usually turn to it for airport pickups, travelling to different cities, and emergency visits. Several companies operate under the RTA or the Roads and Transport Authority, costing as low as AED 5.

RTA will be taking initiatives to improve the taxis across the city, which means your ride will get better enough that the price increase will be totally worth it.
