Valve has finally made an announcement after months of swirling regarding its next-generation hardware, by Introducing three new additions to its hardware library with Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller. They all on SteamOS Gaming Console and are set to reliese sometime in early 2026.
Next Gen Steam Machine 2026
Starting with the Steam Machine, Valve stated that it can play all of your Steam games, including AAA and indie ones, and is six times more powerful than the Steam Deck. Similar to the “Steam Deck Verified” badge, games that perform well on the console will be marked with a “Steam Machine Verified” tag. It is not exactly a PC, but it is also not nearly a console. Valve claims that “your complete library will be there waiting for you once you check in with your Steam account.
As for the measurements, it is a 6-inch cube that may be placed on your desk or under your television. To show system status, including download progress, it even features an LED strip.
A New Steam Frame VR Headset
Valve’s latest wireless virtual reality gaming device is called the Steam Frame. It comes with controllers and is designed to be “streaming” first. It provides “wireless, comfy, lightweight VR for your Steam library,” according to Valve’s website. It is interesting to note that Valve claims it can play both VR and non-VR games. It will have its own “Steam Frame Verified” indicating, just as the Steam Machine and Steam Deck. You may use the tag to discover which games—VR or not—will function on the headset.
Foveated Streaming is a new feature that enhances information where your eyes are focused. To improve visual quality, this function moves the highest-quality pixels to line up with your eyes using low-latency eye tracking data.
Steam Controller
Lastly, compared to its 2015 variation, the new Steam Controller gained an extensive redesign. In addition to your thumbsticks and direction pad, it contains the typical A, B, X, and Y buttons. However, it also has two sizeable trackpads next to the grips that mimic the motion of computer mouse.
TMR technology gives the thumbsticks a more responsive feel and extends their lifespan. In addition, it has a grip-enabled gyro known as Grip Sense and haptic feedback for a more engaging experience. Toggle off gyro targeting by simply holding and releasing.
Additionally, it includes the Steam Controller Puck, a wireless transmitter that serves as both a reliable connection to your gear and a charging station.
In the meantime, Valve continues to make the Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED. The new hardware will also work with the handheld.
