RTA just dropped some fresh info on the hot-coming Dubai Metro Blue Line scheduled to roll out in 2029, and it is going to crank up city transport big time.
Dubai Metro Blue Line Got Two Routes and 14 Stations
RTA announced the Blue Line will be on two routes, connecting 14 metro blue line stations featuring elevated and underground stations all over Dubai. The new metro carries over 320,000 passengers per day, according to RTA’s Twitter post.
The line will have a total length of 30 km, 15.5 km underground and 14.5 km above ground, making it easier to get around in the main residential and business spots.
Elevated and Underground Stations along the Blue Line
What’s on the line:
- Five above‑ground stations
- Four underground stations
- One underground interchange station
Additional elevated stations are in the pipeline for future development phases, so the line has the potential to grow with the city.
First-Ever Dubai Metro Blue Line bridge Across Dubai Creek
A key highlight of the metro blue line is its first-ever crossing over Dubai Creek, made possible by a 1,300 metre long bridge, definitely a big engineering win for the metro.
Areas covered by the RTA Blue Line Route
Marsa, Dubai Creek, Dubai Festival City, Three stops of International City, Al Rashidya, Al Warqa, Mirdif, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Academic City
Interchange Stations to and from Red and Green Lines
Three interchanges to mix better with the current metro:
Al Khor Interchange on the Green Line, Centrepoint on the Red Line and an interchange in International City
Two Routes Established for Hassle-Free Connectivity
Previously, the RTA’s Director General said the Blue Line was constructed using two routes to ensure the Red and Green Lines remain connected nicely.

“The new line keeps the Red and Green Lines connected with two routes,” he mentioned.
The first route starts at Al Khor Interchange in Al Jaddaf, passes through Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Ras Al Khor, before reaching International City One, which will be an interchange.
Blue Line Routes that help to make North-East Dubai Trips Faster
It’s divided into two parts, one being 21 km and the other being 9 km. Connecting the north-east part of Dubai with the current metro, hence getting around the city is quicker, smoother, and more efficient.
